Vangelis (græsk: Βαγγέλης), egentlig: Evánghelos Odysséas Papathanassíou (græsk: Ευάγγελος Οδυσσέας Παπαθανασίου), født 29. marts 1943 i Volos, Hellas er en græsk musiker som i 1968 startede bandet Aphrodite's Child sammen med Demis Roussos og Loukas Sideras.
Da bandet blev opløst i 1971 startede han som solokunstner og komponist.
Vangelis har hovedsageligt produceret elektronisk musik og synthmusik siden denne genre brød igennem i 1970'erne. Sammen med Jean Michel Jarre er Vangelis en forgrundsfigur inden for den elektroniske musik, og særlig den melodiske del af denne.
Han har i sin solokarriere haft mange vellykkede samarbejder, blandt andet med sangeren Jon Anderson fra gruppen Yes i duoen Jon & Vangelis.Han fik en Oscar for filmmusikken til filmen Chariot of Fire og har derudover også komponeret musikken til film som Blade Runner og 1492: Conquest of Paradise. Han komponerede også hymnen til VM i fodbold 2002.

Vangelis has produced mainly electronic music and synth music since the genre broke through in the 1970s.
Together with Jean Michel Jarre Vangelis is a prominent figure in electronic music, and especially the melodic part of this.
He has in his solo career had many successful collaborations, including with the singer Jon Anderson of Yes Group in the duo Jon & Vangelis.
He received an Oscar for the film music for the film Chariot of Fire and also has also composed music for films like Blade Runner and 1492: Conquest of Paradise. He also composed the anthem for the World Cup 2002.
